Investigative judge Iman struggles with paranoia amid political unrest in Tehran
When his gun goes missing, he suspects his wife and daughters are taking draconian measures that are straining family ties in the face of a collapse in social rules. Filmmaker Mohammad Rasuloff was originally scheduled to appear at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival as a member of the jury for the Un Sure Regard section. However, he was arrested in July 2022 after criticizing the government’s crackdown on protests in the southwestern Iranian city of Abadan over a deadly building collapse. On May 8, 2024, Rasuloff’s lawyer announced that he had been sentenced to eight years in prison, a flogging, a fine, and the confiscation of his property. On May 12, 2024, Rasuloff announced that he had managed to escape Iran and was staying at an undisclosed location in Europe.
