Miami, 1991. When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, young Dexter Morgan must learn to channel his inner darkness as he makes the transition from student to avenging serial killer with the guidance of his father, Harry. ‘Dexter’ has the same birthday as Michael C. Hall, February 1, 1971. In Episode 4, the Blockbuster employee that Deb and her friend meet is wearing a dark blue, short-sleeved shirt as part of the uniform. In 1991, employees wore light blue, long-sleeved shirts. Short sleeves weren’t used until 4 or 5 years later. Followed by Dexter: Resurrection (2025). I went into this with pretty low expectations and mostly excited for Resurrection. The beginning of the first episode was cringeworthy with the edits and the CGI police car, and I thought “wow, this is going to be a flop.” By the end of the first episode, I was eating my words as the actors embodied their characters perfectly and the story showed immense promise. While we already know much of the backstory, the first episode had a couple of surprises that add to the depth of some of the characters we’ve come to know and love, and adds some context to the decisions those characters made. I’ve only watched one episode and I’m already hooked!
